Loggers roll to one-sided victory over the Redmen

Taber Fawley, a first-team All-Marawood North selection last winter, sparked the Loggers with 22 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Derek Loomis added seven as Phillips sprinted out to a 34-17 lead after 18 minutes.
Rib Lake got three buckets from Ryan Patrick in the half, a pair of 3-pointers from Logan Blomberg and five points, including a triple from Michael Borchardt.
After draining four 3s as a team in the first half, the Loggers added five more in the second half while outscoring the Redmen 34-18. Dawson Harschild had two of those long balls in the half. Fawley added nine more points and Loomis put in seven more to finish with 14.
Patrick scored eight more points after halftime and finished with an impressive 14-point, 16-rebound double-double for Rib Lake. He made seven of 13 shots from the field, grabbed six of his rebounds on the offensive end and blocked two shots.
Borchardt scored a season-high seven points and added three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Blomberg had six points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Tanner Vlach chipped in with five points, three assists and two rebounds. Matthew Siroin hit a secondhalf 3-pointer and had three rebounds.
The loss dropped the Redmen to 0-4 in Marawood play and 0-5 overall. Rib Lake hosted North rival Athens Tuesday in a game played after an early holiday week deadline for The Star News. The Redmen will host Gilman in non-conference play on Monday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
The ball didn’t find the basket nearly enough for the Rib Lake Redmen to overcome 23 turnovers in their 68-35 Marawood Conference loss at Phillips Friday night.
The Loggers turned the miscues into 23 points and outscored Rib Lake 15-0 in transition while earning their first Marawood Conference win of the winter after suffering three league losses. The Loggers are 3-3 overall.
The Redmen made just 14 of 48 shots overall from the field, including nine of 21 from two-point range and just five of 27 from behind the 3-point arc.
