Marathon finishes season
Baseball team doubles its total wins this year

Marathon’s summer high school baseball team concluded its season with a 16-8 record, following a doubleheader split in Medford on Monday night.
Hunter Seubert pitched Marathon to a 4-3 win against Medford in the first game. Brock Warren’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning provided the game-winning RBI in the team’s comefrom- behind victory.
Kolby Koeller and Mitchell Kurtz each doubled, while Jaden Koeller and Carter Hanke both batted two for four at the plate in the win.
Peter Chesek took the pitching loss in Marathon’s 15-2 defeat to Medford in the nightcap. Brock Warren and Cooper Hoeksema both hit doubles.
Marathon head coach Steve Warren was pleased with the amount of game playing experience the younger high school baseball players received this summer.
“We had a very successful summer baseball season,” he said. “We are thankful Marathon Cheese Corporation was able to provide financial support for our team this summer after the state American Legion baseball program was canceled. We are also thankful Marathon School District allowed us to use the high school baseball field for our home games.”
Marathon swept a home doubleheader against Mosinee on Thursday. Brock Warren pitched the team to a 10-2 win against Mosinee in the first game.
Brock Warren also led Marathon at the plate by hitting three for four with a double and two RBIs. Jaden Koeller, Hunter Seubert and Kole Kaldunski all batted two for four and Jake Sweno doubled.
Daniel La Qua pitched Marathon to a 3-2 victory against Mosinee in the second game. Kyle Hollenbeck earned the pitching save. Jake Sweno led Marathon by doubling and collecting a pair of RBIs.
Marathon split a home doubleheader against Rib Lake on July 27. Hunter Seubert pitched the team to a 4-2 win against Rib Lake in the opening game. Kole Kaldunski batted two for three and both he and Mitchell Kurtz hit doubles.

Hunter Seubert led Marathon in hitting by going two for three with a double and three RBIs. Brock Warren batted three for four with two RBI and Kolby Koeller doubled. Kyle Hollenbeck hit two for three and Jaden Koeller two for four in the win.
Kyle Hollenbeck fanned six Rib Lake batters in leading Marathon to a 12-4 win against Rib Lake in the second game. Nathan Hanke paced Marathon in batting by going a perfect three for three with a double and three RBIs. Jake Sweno doubled and had two RBIs, while Daniel La Qua also added a pair of RBIs. Jaden Koeller batted two for four in the victory.
