The Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter on junior Brooks Vanderhoof’s one-yard touchdown run and senior Caleb Wrensch’s 47yard touchdown catch from senior quarterback Jack Tubbs. Junior Mason Miller kicked successful extra points after each of the touchdowns.

Stratford scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, beginning with Tubbs’ 11 -yard touchdown run although the twopoint conversion failed. Senior Jett SchoenheiT ran for a two-yard touchdown and the two-point conversion was successful this time. Junior Coltan Breit caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Tubbs and Miller kicked the extra point to give the Tigers a 35-7 halftime advantage.

The Tigers scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter. Schonherr ran for a 16-yard touchdown but Miller’s extra point failed. Senior Alec Chapel caught a 69-yard touchdown pass from Tubbs and Miller’s kick was good.

Tubbs completed 13 of 15 passes for three touchdowns in Stratford’s opening playoff win. Chapel led Tiger receivers with four catches for 136 yards and a touchdown while Wrensch had three catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

No. 1 playoff seed Stratford improves its record to 10-0 this season and now has a rematch against Central Wisconsin-Large Conference foe Amherst, 8-2, in a Division 5 Level 2 home game at 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 1, on Marshfield Senior High School’s artificial turf football field.

Stratford defeated Amherst, 48-20, in a regular-season home game but the two teams traded touchdowns in the first half before the Tigers pulled away in the second half for the big win. No. 4 playoff seed Amherst beat No. 5 seed Oostburg, 35-12, in a home Level 1 playoff game.
