THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1973 Director of public works resigns As of October 1, Frank Zygarlicki will resign his post as director of public works and superintendent of the Stratford Water and Electric Department. Zygarlicki has had the latter position for 20 years and since he took over the work, the village has seen many improvements in both new buildings and in the supply of electricity to village customers.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1998 United Way a third of way to goal The United Way and Stratford Lions Club campaign has hit 39 percent or $2,224 of its $5,750 goal, Community Drive Chair Randy Krebsbach announced recently.
“Our success so far is due in large part to the increase of contributions we’ve received from individual households in support of this year’s campaign,” Krebsbach said. “Our community is one which has a history of working together to help those in need and we’re making it known that this year’s United Way campaign is no exception.”

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1973 New teachers hired in Edgar The Edgar teaching faculty welcomed new members this fall.
Three new faces come to Edgar as recent graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. They are: Mrs. Bev Jorstad, special learning disabilities teacher; Miss Judy Vandehey, reading teacher and Mr. Charlie Ebert, physical education instructor.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1998 Marathon residents object to pressure valves The Marathon Utility Board agreed to delay increasing water pressure to 19 homes in the Westview Subdivision after 16 homeowners strongly objected to paying the estimated $200 needed to install water pressure reducing valves. “This is discrimination, pure and simple,” said Francis Fochs, who argued that the rest of Marathon residents were serviced with adequate water pressure without being subject to special charges.
