Road construction season has now begun
It’s now road construction season. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) North Central Region has released details about construction projects on State Highways 29 and 153.
Construction work on STH 29 between CTH E and CTH H in Edgar began on April 10 and will continue until Tuesday, Oct. 31. Crews will repair the existing concrete pavement on STH 29 and resurface the asphalt shoulders.
The STH 153 construction project between Stainless Avenue in the village of Stratford and STH 13 has begun and will continue until the middle of August.
Crews will be resurfacing the road along with replacing culverts and guardrail. STH 153 will be closed to traffic starting on Monday, May 1, for approximately four weeks while culverts are installed. Traffic will be detoured via STH 13 and 97. During this closure local and emergency vehicle access will be maintained. This access will require use of local roads and will change as culverts at different locations are replaced.
On Tuesday, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a $1.3 million contract to improve STH 107 between North Street and Maratech Avenue in the village of Marathon. Construction work is scheduled to begin this Monday, May 1.
Zenith Tech Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will mill and overlay the existing concrete pavement and apply a concrete overlay on the deck surface of two bridges over the Big Rib River.
Additional work includes replacement of guardrail and deteriorated curb and gutter.
During construction, STH 107 will have single lane closures, reduced lane widths and temporary modifications to business access points.
Construction is scheduled for completion by October. The construction schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
