Loyal Legion Auxiliary makes, receives donations
The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary met on March 11. The meeting was called to order by President Jackie Rowley at 7:30 p.m. It opened with prayer, a moment of silence for deceased members, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Preamble.
There were no guests. Members with March birthdays are Jackie Rowley, Kris Schultz, and Phyllis Linster. Roll call was taken with 15 members present.
The secretary’s report was read by Julie Poehnelt and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was read by Norma Wentzel and approved.
The sunshine report was as follows: Barb Lucht sent thinking of you cards to Dawn Jacobson and Hap Weyer. Thank you cards were read from Sheila Tellock, thanking the Auxiliary for scholarship money; and from the Chippewa Falls veterans home, for a monetary donation. Rowley thanked all the members who volunteered in February for fish fries, the steak feed, bingo, the Whitetails Unlimited banquet, and the blood drive. Upcoming events as of the meeting were: March 14 fish fry, March 16 bingo, March 17 steak feed, March 18 Citizens State Bank, March 26 chamber banquet, March 28 fish fry, April 5 Wild Life Federation, April 11 fish fry, and April 18 fish fry.
A flag, pole, and stand were purchased for the Auxiliary, and four grave markers. The bowling tournament is April 12-13 in Madison. Badger Girls State will be June 13-20 in Oshkosh.
Bob and Jean Hannum donated a five-branch military plaque for the 50-year building raffle. April 19 is the Spring Conference in Tomah. Oct. 18 is the date set for the comedian night fundraiser.
