The Central Chamber Chorale, a group with singers from Spencer, Loyal, Marshfield and other central Wisconsin communities, will perform concerts March 29 in Medford and March 30 in Marshfield, featuring a range of classical choral music, including sacred pieces. All concerts are free and open to the public.

The Central Chamber Chorale will soon celebrate its spring concert season with music “From Bach to Bernstein.”

Performances will be Saturday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 321 N. Park Ave., Medford; and Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1208 W. 14th St., Marshfield.

In the first half of the concert, the Chorale performs music by J.S. Bach, William Billings, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Anton Bruckner. Beethoven’s “O Sanctissima” features flute accompanists Kristina Kaiser and Lynnette Mort. Bruckner’s “Antiphon” features soloist Greg Reierson. The second half includes music by Johannes Brahms, Samuel Barber, and Leonard Bernstein. “Take Care of This House” from the muscial “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” features cellist Mya Ellis.

The concerts are open to the public without charge. The Chorale is under the direction of Elizabeth Dahlby, who chose the selection of music, and Jamie Jordan is the Chorale’s accompanist. The Chorale is a group of approximately 25-30 singers ranging in age and occupation, but brought together by the love of choral music. Singers come from Marshfield and the surrounding communities, including Loyal, Spencer, Medford, Arpin, and others.

The concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the state of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
