For four years, the bridge over Nelson Creek on Kington Road in the town of Beaver north of Loyal has been closed to through traffic. At the beginning of November, work had started to replace the bridge, which had been closed following a bridge inspection in 2020 that deemed it unsafe for traffic. However, due to delays in work and approaching winter weather, completion of that project is now expected to be done in the spring rather than its original fall completion date.

The project to replace the bridge on Kington Road was awarded to Radtke Contractors Inc. of Winneconne for $336,867. Originally, the project had been set to be completed by Nov. 30, but reported delays with the work put the project behind schedule. An estimated three weeks’ worth of work remain to replace the bridge, including pouring the bridge deck. With temperatures forecasted to remain low, it was decided that the completion of the project was to be suspended until the spring of 2025 after the second abutment is poured. Both town and county officials have been informed about the delay with the project.
