How far these little ones have come

How far these little ones have come How far these little ones have come

Looking at our students now, it is amazing to see how their skills have developed and grown since the beginning of school. It is hard to believe we are close to the end of the school year. March blew in as we learned the order of the colors of the rainbow and what happens in the water cycle. We were busy chasing leprechauns and looking for spring. On St. Patrick’s Day, we turned a little Irish with a parade of green and dancing a little jig. We also worked hard on our writing skills during the month.

April showered in with little rain, but lots of achievement since fall. In between our adventures, we were reading more words and sounding out words to write sentences and stories. We learned about syllables and sound segmentation. We have been counting to higher numbers and learning about time and money. We did our final Dibels assessment in reading. The children are growing by leaps and bounds, as we headed into the final weeks of school. It was feeling like spring as we learned about the seasons and planting seeds. We were finding out what we needed to make things grow and explored how plants develop from a tiny seed. We celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up our earth and making special shirts to remind us of how special trees and plants are to our environment. We enjoyed the virtual LCTA performances of Chicken Dance and The Power of Good Manners.

As we moved into May, we were able to have a picnic and graduation ceremony outside the school. As the days winded down we continued to learn more words and practice all our newly developed skills.

Before we knew it, we are off for summer vacation and preparing to enter the first grade!
