Although Granton has already had an eventful fall semester, we have set many goals and new activities for our spring semester.

The first event is our Poverty Meal. The chapter officer team realized that poverty happens all around the world, although many people do not realize that poverty can mean different things for different people. As a way to help educate students and community members about poverty around the nation, and even Clark County, we are hosting an educational dinner.

Clark County FFA chapters and Granton FFA and Alumni members are invited to this free event. Upon arrival, each person will get a card determining what their social class is and where they will sit. An informational slideshow will be presented and then the meal will follow.

The cool thing about the meal is that each meal will differ based on what your card states. For example, if you are high class, you may have a plated meal served to you, whereas poverty class will not have their meal served to them and their food will greatly differ.

This event will be held on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Granton School and all Clark County chapters and Granton FFA Alumni members are encouraged to RSVP.

Our other new event is a bike rodeo in April. The bike rodeo is intended to teach students in grades 2-4 how to properly ride a bike. FFA members will work with elementary students to teach them hand signals, road safety, and the importance of wearing a helmet. After the lecture, students will have an opportunity to show off their bike safety in the school parking lot by riding their bikes.

Granton FFA has had five state officers

Granton FFA has had the honor of being home to five state officers. These past state officers served as the keynote speakers at the chapter’s banquet. Past state officers pose with their Wisconsin FFA Association jackets: (from left) Fritz Garbisch (1959-60), Jillian Tyler (2018-19), Milton Garbisch (1962-63), Kristi Pribbernow-Luis (1993-94), and Pat Sterntizky (1995-96).
