Transfixed… Into the Arcane
This past weekend I was introduced to a critically acclaimed animated series on Netflix (she pauses for your excitement level to increase) called Arcane: League of Legends. Now, I know you are probably thinking, “oh, it’s a cartoon” or “never heard of that.” Yes, it is an animated series, but an animated series that has, in my eyes, surpassed many animation expectations as the level of artistry is absolutely hands down stunning. And not only is it crafted so brilliantly in visuals, the storylines behind each character is so unique and relatable, to a point they are in their own universe after all.
Without spoiling it, for those who are interested in watching it, Arcane has a mix of mystical, science-based “magic” called Hextech that has a universal context interwoven into the lives of commoners and into a little blue-haired, big blue-eyed girl who has a curiosity for a secret haul that her sister and step-brothers involve themselves in. It starts with one decision, and one that doesn’t seem to be big at all - but truly changes the lives of everyone in their universe.
I could go on and on about the setting of the scenes and the characters and give you a play by play but that is not why I bring this show to your attention. I want to speak about the context that is more seen than talked about. Just like real life, we all are trying to do our best in the circumstances that we are given and in. There are reasons why we choose one thing over the other. Like should I go one way or the other - and those decisions that we make not only change our lives, but trickle out and change the lives of others.
So, hypothetically, if there was a science- based way to alter time or escape this worldly lair and become more universal in one consciousness, would you choose to accept and leave all individuality aside? What if this technology has been fused between elemental and spirit aspects that can be wielded by anyone? What would be the choice you make? Would you choose to weaponize it or use it to “better” the people? But at what point is the “better” taking away the individuality of one? What if there was an entire city population at stake? Could you make that decision for good of humanity? What is the right decision?
It could be hard to answer these questions, or it could be easy for you. That depends on you and your view point. Do you go towards ascension in spirit? The choice is yours. That is the beautiful chaos of this world and ours.
