Driver training course to have 53 students enrolled Abbotsford high school will offer a course in driver education to 53 students this year, reports Herbert Juneau, principal. The subject will be taught by Daniel S. Harris.

Development of this phase of education has been encouraged statewide by the department of public instruction, in cooperation with the safety division of the motor vehicle department.

Wisconsin has been accorded nationwide recognition for leadership in this field, the principal said. Pioneer efforts in this regard were put forth more than a decade ago.

The standard course includes study of how the automobile functions, what is required of the driver, the importance of proper attitudes and appreciation of social responsibilities, the need for traffic regulations, the causes of accidents, the means of preventing highway mishaps and the major provisions of state and local traffic codes.

Purpose of the course is to develop in young people a reasonable appreciation of their obligations on the streets and highways, the principal pointed out.
