Santa is Magic

Santa is Magic Santa is Magic

Trying to get into the Christmas or holiday spirit can be tough for some. Not all holidays are full of cheer for everyone; but, the best part about those days are of the memories of times past and the spark of magic you feel in your heart when something nice happens unexpectedly. Some go through trying times and to spread holiday cheer can be very helpful in making this time brighter for them. What are some ways you could spread some joy this season?

Baking cookies and sending them to your neighbors, work colleagues and friends are great examples of doing just that. What are some morewaysif youare not a baker? If you have the spare funds candy canes are always a hit. Maybe, gathering some friends and do some old fashioned caroling, make a snowman in the park and call him Frosty, or maybe search for that special red-nosed reindeer while playing some outdoor games.

Something that seemed to always bring a smile to my face around this time of year are the original Christmas classic movies; i.e. “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Charlie Brown’s Christmas”, “The Little Dummer Boy”, “A Year Without Santa Claus”, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Santa Claus is Comin to Town”, “Jack Frost”, “Frosty” and I can’t forget about “Mickey and Friends”. I know movies aren’t something that can be easily shared but now with the streaming services you are bound to find some of these great relics to watch. Invite some friends and neighbors over and have a holiday movie marathon. Show some merriness with eggnog, hot chocolate, cookie baking, movie watching, carol singing, etc. Surround yourself with those who might need more cheer than you think.

There is magic in the air whether folks believe in it or not. I know the rose colored glasses might be on, but I would rather walk through life with color than in drabness. Remember when in “The Santa Claus”, where Neil, throughout the whole movie would try to prove to Charlie that Santa Claus wasn’t real. He learned for himself in the end of the movie (spoiler alert) that Santa is, in fact, real and was given his childhood wish of an Oscar Mayer “Weenie Whistle.” In that moment, Neil’s world changed from drab to beautiful and brilliant. Filled with hope and gleefulness.

It took one little act of kindness to show him that there is magic in the world. There is no quantifiable way to prove that magic exists but, believing that there is might just be the spark the world needs to see it all around us.

“It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags! Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. “Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more.” - How the Grinch Stole Christmas
