Abbotsford Public Library releases spring activities
The library loves to encourage creativity and have found perler beads to be a great tool that lets library patrons of all ages have fun creating designs to turn into decorative fridge magnets or keychains.
Stop in the library on Thursday, March 17, 3-5 p.m. to make your own perler bead lucky charm or on Thursday, April 14, 3-5 p.m. to make a more Easter themed creation. Walk-in events.
The library will be welcoming in spring with an in-house scavenger hunt that will encourage children to find the “treasure” at the end of the rainbow. There will be word riddle and logic puzzles to solve throughout the library leading to a small prize. The hunt will be held on Saturday, March 26, 10:0 to 11:30 a.m. Walk-in event.
The first week of April is National Library Week. The Abbotsford Public Library celebrates the event by bringing in authors to discuss their works and the answer questions community members could have on the writing process.
On Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m., Wisconsin author, Anne Keller, will be presenting on her book “Empty Chairs,” a heartwarming story about a family struggling to stay together through many hardships and changes.
The Abbotsford Book Club will also be holding an online book discussion with the author of their book selection for April, “The Nature of Fragile Things” by Susan Meissner. There will be copies of both books at the library available for check out. Inform the library staff if you are interested in attending either of these events.
The library will hold a Family Movie Night each second Friday of the month at 7 p.m. April’s movie night will be extra exciting. The Abbotsford Parent Teacher Organization Scholastic book sale fundraiser will fall during the event, though shoppers can stop in any time Friday, April 8, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 9, 8 a.m to 5 p.m., to shop.
There will also be an egg hunt for held before the movie for those planning on attending the film.
The library will hide Easter eggs in the library for children ages 12 and under. Each child will be limited to set number of eggs determined by the number of children at the event. If you plan to participate in the egg hunt, be at the library by 6:30 p.m.
The film to follow will be the sequel to the movie about animals who love to sing. Registration is required for the egg hunt and movie night.
Tuesday, May 3, the library will be holding a Fancy Nancy Tea Party at 6 p.m. Come in your boa or bow tie for a parent/child tea party. Let staff know of any dietary restrictions. Registration will be required.
As always, these are in addition to the library’s regular monthly programing. For youth, story times are held on first and third Fridays of the month during the school year at 10:30 a.m.
There is also the monthly adult craft night held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
