THE TRIBUNE-P HONOGRAPH PUBLISHED IN ABBOTSFORD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1971

School program given for capacity crowd Wednesday The annual Christmas program given by the grade school pupils drew a large audience, who apparently enjoyed the various numbers portraying the secular and religious themes of the season. Christmas carols were played over the new inter-communications system.

The Parent-Teachers Assoc. had a booth of home made candies and cookies, and the home economics department held open house, where a snow man display and Christmas ideas, as well as assorted Christmas cookies and fragrant coffee, had appeal.

Santa here in person Saturday; greets about 1,300 people The biting cold Saturday in no way kept Santa Claus from keeping his appointment in Abbotsford, nor did it keep his admirers from visiting him. About 800 children, and between 400 and 500 adults, were at the armory where Santa was the main attraction.

With the help of some grade school boys, Santa entertained the wide-eyed children with a one act skit, and then gave each child a bag of candy and nuts.

Due to the extreme cold, and the crowd at the armory, he was unable to make home visits as he had to hurry on. A number of bags have been left at the Abbotsford Hardware Drug Store for all who registered at Wing’s Drug Store. If there are any shut ins who failed to register, there is still time to receive a bag by calling either hardware store. You may get it in person, or it will be delivered by one of Santa’s helpers.

Christmas programs at Abby Elementary school The Abbotford Elementary school held Christmas open house on Dec. 12.

The parents of the elementary children have the opportunity to go through the classrooms and see the Christmas decorations the children have made to decorate the rooms. The first grade classes through the fifth grade classes were directed by Mrs. Donna Lindstad, and accompanied by Mrs. Doris Elden.
