ABBOTSFORD T RIBUNE PUBLISHED IN ABBOTSFORD THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1951

THE TRIBUNE-P HONOGRAPH PUBLISHED IN ABBOTSFORD WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1981

School addition approved New ward to be created by Colby City Council A special meeting of Joint District No. 1, of the Village of Abbotsford, towns of Mayville, Colby, Holton and Hull, was held at the high school on Nov. 14, at 8:15 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to vote on an addition to the high school building.

The meeting was called to order by the director, Mr. H.J. Amacher. Herbert Juneau was elected chairman.

The necessity and advisability of building a gym, kitchen, dining room and making available a department in the high school building for industrial arts was explained in detail to the voters by the principal and school board.

After some discussion, a vote was taken, the result of which showed 102 in favor of said addition and 11 opposed.

Since there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Medo-Farms Dairy will hold open house Sunday An open house will be held at the newly completed Medo-Farms Dairy Bar and Plant on Sunday, Nov. 18, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. You are cordially invited to visit the plant, located on Highway 13, and see this modern and sanitary plant where your milk is pasteurized and bottled daily.

The dairy, where milk drinks and ice cream will dispensed, will be open for business Saturday. Plenty of parking space off the highway has been provided.

Reacting to the latest census, which showed a substantial increase in population in the city’s Third Ward, the Colby Council last week initiated a procedure which will add another ward and two new aldermen to the city.

The latest census figure show that Colby’s Third Ward contains about twice as many people as Wards One and Two. State statutes require that municipalities if such population changes occur. The city will soon have four aldermanic districts, but the change will not involve any complicated reshifting of boundary lines. Instead, the Third Ward will simply be split in half, creating two ward that will be nearly equal in population to the remaining pair.

The First District will still consist of all that part of the City of Colby in Marathon County — that is, the area east of Hwy. 13. The Second District will remain as is: that area of the city west of Hwy. 13 and south of Spence Street.

The Third District will now be bound on the east by Hwy. 13 and on the south by Spence Street. From Hwy. 13 and Adams, the boundary will run west to Third Street, south to North Street, west to the city limits and south to Spence Street.

The new Fourth District will consist of all areas not included in Districts One, Two or Three — generally, the northwest corner of the city. Two new aldermen will join the council to represented the new Fourth Ward.
