Chief Deputy Billeb seeks to replace Sheriff Parks Chief Deputy Billeb seeks to replace Sheriff Parks

After Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks decided that he will not seek another four-year term in 2022, his chief deputy and undersheriff Chad Billeb announced that he will be running to replace his current boss.

Sheriff Park was quick to endorse Billeb as his successor.

“After being appointed sheriff in May 2013, I promoted Chad Billeb to be my chief deputy,” Sheriff Parks said. “I did it because he is the perfect fit for me and was not afraid to professionally advise me when he felt a decision I was making should be reconsidered. He is informed, knowledgeable and a leader I depended on. He was given much leeway to maneuver because I trust him and am asking you to do the same.”

Billeb began his career in law enforcement in 1993, working for several municipal police agencies before coming to the sheriff’s office in December of 1999. He has worked as a patrol deputy, investigator, lieutenant, division commander and was most recently promoted to the rank of chief deputy/ undersheriff in 2013 by Sheriff Parks. For the last eight years, Billeb has overseen the day-to-day operations of the sheriff’s office. “I am honored to have the support of Sheriff Parks and many other law enforcement leaders in Marathon County,” Billeb said. “It is imperative that together we continue our work on issues that impact our community. Our priorities related to the response to mental health concerns, dealing with the heroin and methamphetamine problem and our efforts to be fiscally responsible while managing an everchanging criminal justice system must not cease. These initiatives require a person with the experience and relationships that I have to continue moving us forward.”

The primary election will take place in August of 2022 with the general election for the office of sheriff taking place in November of 2022.
