Help brighten the lives of children undergoing medical treatments at Marshfield Medical Center and Aspirus Health System with “Boredom Buster Bags.”

1. Pick up a gift bag (or more) at the Colby Community Library (CCL) beginning November 1. 2. Shop for NEW items to fill the bag with “boredom busters” for children ages 3-11. Suggestions are activity books with crayons, pencil colors, or markers; small toys; craft kits; stuffed/ plastic animals, dolls or action figures; and puzzles or games. The Friends of the Colby Library group will be adding a book for the child to read in each bag. 3. Return the filled bag to the CCL with these dates in mind: Return bags by November 29 if they contain holiday- themed items. Return bags by December 29 if they contain items for year-round enjoyment.

Due to lack of patronage on Saturdays, please note that the Colby Community Library will be closed beginning November 6 on Saturdays (and Sunday) until further notice. The CCL will be open to serve patrons on Monday/ Wednesday/Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday Noon-7 p.m. Curbside pickup is always available during open hours by calling the library.

Craft kits are bagged up for Thanksgiving creativity. Foam turkeys, thankfulness wheels, paper bag puppet turkeys, and turkey sticker sheets are available. Limit: One craft bag per child per visit, please.

Evening Book Club

The Evening Book Club of the CCL will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 6 p.m. in the CCL’s RCU Community Room. “Educated: A Memoir” by Tara Westover will be discussed. Current COVID precautions, as per the CCL Board of Trustees, will be in place.

Craft and Hobby will be November 19 beginning at 5 p.m. Bring crafts of choice to work on. No potluck will be hosted; bring individual snacks and beverages of choice. Library board of trustee policies concerning COVID precautions will be in place.

Veteran’s Month

In honor of Veteran’s Day, books and movies featured in November will honor the military in both the adult and children’s sections. Check out the selection for reading and viewing enjoyment.

Holiday Hours

The CCL will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 25-28. The library will reopen on Monday, November 29 at 9 a.m. Please plan ahead to stock up on materials for your holiday needs.
