Free flu vaccine clinics at local schools
The Clark County Health Department will host free flu clinics for children at various locations throughout the county in the month of October.
The clinics are open to all children ages six months to 18 years, regardless of insurance status.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., a clinic will be held at the Colby Elementary School gym, accessible through the front entrance (door 1).
Abbotsford High School will host a clinic on Monday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the south gym (Door AA).
Students attending Colby and Abbotsford public schools will have the opportunity to get their flu shot during school hours. Consent forms will be provided to the students during week of Sept. 21.
Annual flu vaccinations are always important, but in the context of the COVID- 19 pandemic, it is even more critical to protect yourself and those around you, the health department says.
Vaccines will also be available for adults, but they are not free. CCHD will bill insurance from Security Health Plan, Security Administration Services, Medicaid/BadgerCare, Medicare and Advocare. A self-pay option is also available at a per-dose cost.
The vaccines will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. A wait time is expected, so patience is appreciated.
Upon entry, participants are asked to follow CCHD staff directions and posted instructions.
Face coverings are required (if able). Masks will be made available if needed. COVID-19 screening will be done at the door; those who are ill are asked to stay home.
