JREC investing back into the communities served

Jump River Electric Cooperative (JREC) is once again offering scholarships to its active members and their dependent students, who are pursuing a post-secondary education this fall. As Ben Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

In line with this belief, JREC is offering 33 scholarships, each worth $1,000.

“As a cooperative, we are committed to the principle of concern for community,” said JREC general manager/ CEO Kurt Harris. “Our scholarship program reflects our dedication to the success and advancement of our valued members. By investing in education, we are not only supporting individual growth, but are contributing to the development of our entire community.”

There are five individual scholarship categories available for active members and/or their students. These scholarships are open to qualifying homeschool and high school seniors, as well as students entering a one-year electric power distribution post-secondary school program.

Additionally, adult scholarships are available for members or their dependent students, who are returning to school at least one year, after graduating from high school.

These scholarships are intended to support educational pursuits and can be used for tuition, books and expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college or technical/ trade school. The scholarships are made possible through the Federated Youth Foundation, a non-profit charitable foundation serving cooperatives across Wisconsin.

The foundation receives its funding from unclaimed capital credits.
