Free first-aid, AED, CPR training offered to county
Starting Friday, Dec. 6, the Healthcare Workforce Training Institute will provide the first of over 20 free American Red Cross First-Aid, CPR and AED certification trainings, for those age 11 plus, residing or working in Chippewa County. This initial class will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the institute’s Chippewa Falls Education Center, located at 2815 County Hwy. I, on the third floor of Dove Healthcare-Regional Vent Center.
This training is possible, thanks to a grant from Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, which will certify those who successfully complete the five-hour class, as an American Red Cross First-Aid, CPR and AED provider.
Attendees will learn to perform CPR, administer an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relieve choking in adults, children and infants. In addition, attendees will be better equipped to work through medical emergencies, injury management and environmental emergencies.
Classes will be hosted in Cornell, Holcombe, Jim Falls, Bloomer, Chippewa Falls, Lake Wissota, New Auburn, and Stanley, from December to July 2025.
There is no cost for those who are taking the class for their first time or those wishing to complete their twoyear renewal certification. When completing online registration, attendees should select “Chippewa County-Compeer Financial” as the payer source.
Classes are also open to those not living or working in Chippewa County, for a fee, which includes the American Red Cross certification.
Seating is limited. To register or learn about class sites and dates, visit healthcareworkforcetraining.com.
