When fall gets into full swing, that means it’s time for an annual favorite occurrence – Homecoming. Lake Holcombe School will celebrate their festivities Sept. 29 through Oct. 4.

It all begins with a Sunday, Sept. 29, bonfire for the students, behind the school. The next day, Monday, Sept. 30, an assembly will be held, previewing the week’s activities. It also begins dress-up days, with Monday as class color day, where each grade is designated a different color, while staff will don polka dots.

Following that, Tuesday, Oct. 1, is giving the students a chance to see things through their parents’ eyes.

“Are you going to dress like a barbecue dad or a soccer mom, driving a mini-van?” asked Homecoming adviser Shelley Lee.

After that, Wednesday, Oct. 2, is biker vs. surfer day. “Dress in your favorite black leather biker gear or get ready to hit the waves, in your school-appropriate board shorts,” said Lee.

Students then have Thursday, Oct. 3, as Barbie vs. camo day. There’s also a home volleyball game against Birchwood, for fans to show their support.

To round out the week, Friday, Oct. 4, is spirit day, where the school dresses in Lake Holcombe attire. The students will also host a parade at 1:30 p.m., followed by a pep rally. The route starts behind the school, going past the post office and cafe, then one block south, past the town hall, before heading back to the school, through the parking lot by the elementary students.

Community members and businesses are asked to show their school spirit, by taking part in the parade. Anyone who wishes to be part of the parade, can contact Lee, at 715-202-3802.

A pep rally, filled with fun, comes after the students make their way back to the school, after the parade. Games will be played, as well as the presentation of the royal court.

Finally, the big game arrives, as the football program welcomes Owen-Withee that night, along with a pulled pork sandwich tailgate party by the Lake Holcombe Education Foundation, to raise money for fall classroom grants. The public is invited to attend the parade, pep rally and ballgames, showing their love and pride in their school.

“Go Chieftains,” said Lee.
