JREC values education by offering scholarships

Jump River Electric Cooperative (JREC) has $33,000 in scholarships available to its active members and their dependent students. The cooperative firmly believes in the value of education and is committed to investing in the communities it serves, by offering scholarships, each worth $1,000.

“Our scholarship program is not just about financial support, it’s an investment in the growth and development, of our area youth and community,” said JREC general manager/CEO Kurt Harris. “This program is a testament to our commitment to the success and the advancement of our valued members.”

There are five distinct scholarship categories available for active members and/or their students. These scholarships are open to homeschool and high school seniors, as well as students entering a one-year electric power distribution post-secondary school program.

Additionally, non-traditional scholarships are available for members or their dependent students, who are returning to school at least one year after graduating from high school.

These scholarships are intended to support educational pursuits and can be used for tuition, books and expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college or technical/trade school. The scholarships are made possible through the Federated Youth Foundation, a nonprofit charitable foundation serving cooperatives across Wisconsin.

The foundation receives its funding from unclaimed capital credits.
