Cadott Lions Club members Paul Kaiser, Vern Weeks and Gary Rykal, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Wisconsin DNR, for their work with the disposal of deer carcasses. The trio are on the Deer Hide Committee.

The Adopt-a-Kiosk program started in 2018, because of the interest of individuals and organizations in helping the DNR provide options for deer hunters to submit samples for chronic wasting disease testing (CWD). A related program, Adopt-a-Dumpster, has the purpose to provide a option for appropriate deer carcass disposal.

Cadott Lions also provide a freezer in the east park by the pavilion, to collect deer hides. This collection helps fund the Lions Camp in Rosholt, for youth and adults with disabilities.

Other things that kept the Lions busy over the last month, were grilling brats for the Treasure Hunters Club, when they had an event in the east park, as well as placing a couple benches in the park in memory of Lions members who passed away.

“This is a result of all the plastic parties that we held,” said Lion Carolyn Wanish. “At the last one, we sorted and bagged 475 pounds of plastic.”

The Lions also donated bottled water for the annual car show, so some Lions labeled and stuffed the bottles back into the plastic wrap they came in.

“We finished out the month with a school employee appreciation lunch, served in the east pavilion,” said Wanish. “A lot of good food and no one went away hungry.”
