One Vehicle Accident
On August 15 at 10:42 a.m., a vehicle operated by Xiong Moua, 55, of Onalaska was traveling southbound on Skyline Dr. in the town of Taft when she turned too soon and went into the ditch. Moua stated she was following her phone GPS directions to a gas station. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
On August 16 at 6:28 a.m., a vehicle operated by Ava David, 16, of Owen was westbound on CTH A west of Castle Dr., when the vehicle drifted into the north ditch and struck a tree. David advised that she had fallen asleep and had not woken up until the vehicle was in the ditch. There were no injuries from the accident. David was issued a citation for failure to keep vehicle under control.
Two Vehicle Accident
On August 2 at 7:39 a.m., a vehicle operated by Emma Nowak, 20, of Curtiss was traveling west on Hwy 102 and was waiting to make a left hand turn onto Wellington Lake Dr. When it was struck in the rear by a vehicle operated by Jordan Yanko, 19, of Rib Lake. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Both vehicles did sustain disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. Yanko was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
On August 11 at 6:00 p.m., a vehicle operated by Michael Tallman, 25, of Stetsonville was backing out of a residence in the town of Stetsonville, when he struck a parked vehicle owned by Kristen Kauer of Stetsonville. Kauer’s car was legally parked at the time of the accident. There were no injuries as a result of the accident and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
On August 16 at 3:50 p.m., a vehicle operated by Toni Handel, 50, of Medford was backing out of a parking space and struck a vehicle owned by Michael Dohrwardt, 30, of Medford. Dohrwardt’s vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the accident. The accident caused minor damage to both vehicles.
Hit and Run
On August 7 at 5:21 p.m., the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a possible hit and run. An unoccupied vehicle owned by Madelynn Carstensen of Medford was legally parked in a parking stall at K& B Refrigeration when it sustained damage to the driver side front door between the hours of 1-5 p.m that day. There were no cameras present that would have caught the accident. Carstensen obtained an estimate of $3,347.20 to have the damage repaired.
Deer Related
On August 9, at 7:30 p.m., a vehicle driven by Sharon Shukala, 68, of Phillips struck a deer on Hwy 13 in the town of Westboro.
On August 14, at 6:48 p.m., a vehicle driven by Dane Kilty, 17, of Abbotsford struck a deer on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black.
On August 17, at 3:48 a.m., a vehicle driven by David Young, 57, of Withee struck a deer on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel.
On August 17, at 11:17 a.m., a vehicle driven by Charles Tom, 81, of Medford struck a deer on CTH S in the town of Ford.
