eports Prison Sentence

Roger Hattamer, 41, of Loyal, pled no contest to repeated sexual assault of same child (At Least 3 Violations of 1st or 2nd Degree Sexual Assault). Hattamer was given a fifteen year prison sentence consisting of ten years initial confinement, followed by five years of extended supervision. As a condition of his extended supervision, Hattamer is to pay the court costs, provide DNA sample and pay the surcharge, lifetime sex offender registration, sex offender assessment and follow through with any recommended treatment, no contact with the victim and the victim’s immediate family members, absolute sobriety, no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, attend any programs and classes recommended by the probation agent, comply with residency and curfew guidelines as determined by the probation agent.

Hattamer was also charged with exposing genitals to a child and child enticement-sexual contact. Those charges were dismissed but were read in court.

According to the criminal complaint, in November of 2018, the victim met with investigators from Chippewa and Rusk counties. The victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted multiple times by Hattamer. The victim described three separate sexual assaults that occurred between August 2010 and June 2012 in the Town of Aurora.

The victim also told investigators about similar assaults that occurred in Rusk and Clark County.

Hattamer was also found found guilty at jury trial on eleven charges in Rusk County on January 13. Hattamer was found guilty on the following; two charges of Child Sexual Exploitation - Videos, Records, etc.; three charges of Incest with child; three charges of Child Enticement; three charges with Sex with Child Age 16 or older.

For the charges of Child Sexual Exploitation and Incest of a Child, Hattamer was given a sixteen year prison sentence consisting of ten years initial confinement, followed by six years of extended supervision for each of these charges. These sentences will all run concurrent.

For the three charges of Child Enticement, Hattamer was given a four year sentence for each of the charges. This sentence consists of two years in initial confinement and two years extended supervision. This sentence will run consecutive to sentence of the first five charges, but concurrent with each other.

For the three charges of Sex with a Child 16 or older, Hattamer was sentenced to two years probation. This sentence will run consecutive with the first five accounts and concurrent with each other.

The sentence in Taylor County is to run concurrently with the Rusk County sentences.

Hattamer also has a case open in Clark County in which he has pled guilty to Child Enticement- exposing sex organ and first degree child sexual assault- sexual contact or sexual intercourse with person under the age of 13. Hattamer was also charged with incest with child and exposing genitals to a child, but those charges were dismissed but read in court. Hattamer had two additional charges of first degree child sexual assault- sexual contact or sexual intercourse with person under age of 13 that were dismissed on prosecutor’s motion. Hattamer awaits sentencing on these charges. Sentencing is scheduled for September 13 in Clark County.

Plea Entered

On August 9, Matthew Zarins, 50, Athens, pled not guilty to five counts. These counts include; Homicide by negligent handling of dangerous weapon/explosive; Manufacturing/Delivering Amphetamine (<=3g); Possession of methamphetamine precursors; Maintaining drug trafficking place; And knowingly possessing methamphetamine waste. These charges stem from a structure fire on January 11, 2023 in the town of Maplehurst. A pre-trial conference is set for September 12.

David Korallus, 30, Medford pled not guilty to bail jumping misdemeanor.

Maurice Moriarity, 70, Rib Lake, pled not guilty to 3 counts of disorderly conduct and 2 counts of resisting or obstructing an officer. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for September 28.

Jared Roiger, 33, Medford, pled not guilty to battery (domestic abuse - infliction of physical pain or injury). A pre-trial conference is set for September 28.

Russell Staab, 53, Curtiss, pled not guilty to Battery (domestic abuse- infliction of physical pain or injury) and disorderly conduct (domestic abuse- infliction of physical pain or injury). A pre-trial conference is set for September 28.

Travis Trudeau, 28, Stanley, pled no contest to burglary- building or dwelling (repeater) and theft- movable property <=$2500 (Repeater and as a party to a crime). There were also five counts of felony bail jumping that were dismissed but read in court. Trudeau was placed on probation for four years for the burglary- building or dwelling (repeater) charge. In the theft- movable property <=$2500 (Repeater and as a party to a crime) charge, the court withholds sentence and places Trudeau on probation for 2 years. Conditions of probation are 6 months of jail with Huber in the burglary charge only, court costs, DNA and pay the surcharge, pay restitution and the surcharge, no contact with the victim, write a letter of apology to the victim due within 30 days and to be preapproved by the probation agent, counseling as deemed appropriate by the probation agent. Trudeau also forfeited $2,792.51.

Deferred Prosecution

Timothy Wright, 32, Fox Lake, Ill., pled no contest and was found guilty of battery and forfeited $443. Wright also entered into a deferred prosecution for a period of eighteen months. The conditions for the deferred prosecution include to successfully complete the probation that is anticipated to be ordered in the battery charge and to complete 125 uncompensated community service hours. In the battery charge, Wright was placed on probation for one year with conditions to pay court costs, provide DNA sample and pay the surcharge, pay restitution which is to be determined within 30 days, have no contact with the victim, write a letter of apology to the victim due within 30 days and to be preapproved by the probation agent, take a first aid class or CPR course, and is prohibited from taking a job where he is responsible for the care of minors.
