R eports One Vehicle Crash
On July 20 at 11:24 a.m., a fully loaded dump truck operated by Mitchell Shackleton, 44, of Holcombe was navigating Manglos Ave in the town of McKinley and while going through the curves, the load shifted causing him to drift to the right. The edge of the road gave way due to the recent heavy rains and the truck tipped onto its passenger side. Shackleton was uninjured. The dump truck was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
On July 28 at 5:17 p.m., a vehicle operated by Browdie Rodd, 28, of Glen Flora was northbound on CTH DD in the town of Holway, when he swerved to avoid two deer that came out of the west ditch. Rodd’s vehicle went into the east ditch, struck a culvert and went airborne. Rodd was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He did sustain a facial injury and was transported via ambulance. Rodd received citations for OWI, vehicle operator failure to wear a seatbelt, operating while revoked and non-registration of automobile.
Two Vehicle Crash
On July 27 at 12:10 p.m., the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 13 and Elm Ave in the town of Deer Creek. Catherine Peissig, 75 of Stetsonville was traveling northbound on Hwy 13. She signaled to turn west onto Elm Ave, slowed and was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Alexandria Alvarez, 31, of Dorchester. According to the police report, Alvarez stated that she was looking in her rear view mirror and did not see Peissig was turning. Both vehicles sustained minor damage in the accident.
On July 27 at 4:59 p.m., officers from the Medford Police Department responded to an accident in the Medford Motors parking lot. A vehicle operated by Brittany Reinhart, 33, of Medford was traveling westbound in the parking lot. A vehicle driven by Aaron Malchow, 45, of Medford was parked in a stall attempting to back out of the stall. According to the police report, Malchow stated that he was backing slowly as he could not see past the trucks parked on either side of his vehicle. He explained that he was looking in his mirror, backed and was hit by Reinhart. Reinhart explained that she was driving through the lot and Malchow backed out and struck her vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage from the accident. A passenger in Reinhart’s vehicle was evaluated for a possible injury, but was not transported.
Deer related
On August 1, at 7:55 a.m., a vehicle driven by Gary Neumann, 62, of Medford struck a deer on CTH A in the town of Holway.
On August 4, at 4:30 a.m., a vehicle driven by Matthew Lepka, 47, of Abbotsford struck a dear deer on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black.
On August 4, at 5:15 a.m., a vehicle driven by Bradford Rummler, 52, of Prentice struck a deer on Hwy 13 in the town of Westboro.
On August 4, at. 5:40 a.m., a vehicle driven by Jessica Dassey, 44, of Phillips struck a deer on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea.
