Jodi Menning, 63, of Chelsea, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of inattentive driving and was ordered to pay $187.90.

Plea agreements

Deferred prosecution agreements were approved for Jodi Menning, 63, of Chelsea, for two charges of retail theft. She was ordered to pay fine and restitution of $138.60 for the first charge and $323.55 for the second charge.

Brent Sommer, 18 of Ogema, was found guilty due to no contest pleas of Battery [Modifiers: Domestic Abuse - Infliction of Physical Pain or Injury, Domestic Abuse], a class A misdemeanor and criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor. Charges of strangulation and suffocation (modifers: domestic abuse - infliction of physical pain or injury), a class H felony, and felony bail jumping were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes. Court ordered a withheld sentence and places the defendant on probation for a period of 2 years. On the battery charge, court orders 10 days jail to commence no later than July 30 at 4:30 PM. Other conditions include no fine but court costs on each count; DNA sample and surcharge on each count; letter of apology to the victim, due within 30 days, to be preapproved by the agent; AODA and follow through with all recommended treatment; and counseling as deemed necessary by the probation agent. In the event of revocation, defendant has 12 days sentence credit. Upon successful completion of probation, defendant is eligible for expungement. Total court assessments were $886.

Brent Sommer, 18 of Ogema, was found guilty due to no contest pleas of Felony Theft (party to a crime); Pointing Firearm at Another; two counts of Misdemeanor Theft (party to a crime). The court ordered that the sentence in felony theft is deferred for a period of 4 years pursuant to the Deferred Entry of Judgment Agreement filed on the case. In addition to the standard conditions, defendant shall successfully complete the 2-year period of probation ordered on the misdemeanor convictions. Upon successful completion of the deferred entry of judgment, that count shall be dismissed. As to pointing a firearm at another and theft charges, the court orders a withheld sentence and places the defendant on probation for a period of two years. Conditions of probation include 40 hours of uncompensated community service (to be pre-approved by the probation agent); no fine but court costs on each count; DNA sample and surcharge on each count; restitution in the amount of $555, to be paid joint and several; no contact with the victims in this case; letters of apology to each victim, due within 30 days, to be preapproved by the agent; AODA and follow through with all recommended treatment; and counseling as deemed necessary by the probation agent. In the event of revocation, defendant has 2 days sentence credit. Upon successful completion of probation, defendant is eligible for expungement. Dismissed but read in were 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, four counts of theft of movable property <= $2,500 (party to a crime). Also dismissed but read in for sentencing were charges from a Price County case that was consolidated with the Taylor County case these included felony bail jumping; misdemeanor bail jumping, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total assessment to the court was $1,884.

Michaela J. Stephens, 35, of Thorp, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of disorderly conduct. As part of a plea agreement, the court dismisses but reads in the remainder counts of resisting or obstructing an officer; battery or threat to judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement officer; and misdemeanor bail jumping. Court ordered a straight sentence of $100 fine plus court costs totaling $579, provide a DNA sample and pay the surcharge. Stephens had to write a letter of apology to Deputy Weinke and have it delivered to and approved by the District Attorney before the June 30 hearing.
