Full weekend of fun planned for Gilman Dairy Days, June 16-18

Gilman community members will be coming together to celebrate June Dairy Days on June 16-18.

The weekend-long celebration recognizes the importance of dairy in the region as well as providing an opportunity to gather and enjoy summer.

The fun starts on Friday, June 16 with a Little League baseball game in the village park starting at 5 p.m. There will also be a free community meal sponsored by Gilman Cheese. From 6 to 10 p.m. a free concert by “Red Higgins and Freedom Train” is also sponsored by Gilman Cheese. At 10 p.m. there will be a fireworks show.

The fun continues on Saturday June 17 with the Poplar Grove 4-H Dairy Breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. in the village park. At 9 a.m. there will be a Paddle Wheel Raffle.

Also at 9 a.m. the annual Little Britches Cattle Show will be held. Registration for the show is at 8:30 a.m.

From 10 a.m. until noon Aspirus MedEvac Helicoptor Outreach will be held in the clinic lot sponsored by Aspirus Health and Gilman Fire Department.

At 10 a.m. concessions open in the park. With the Gilman fire department ice cream stand opening at 11 a.m.

The first day of the Men’s softball tournament begins at 10 a.m. In the evening, DJ Smoke-n-Karaoke will go from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Photo Booth in the park from 6 to 8 p.m.

On Sunday June 18, activities begin with a 9 a.m. community church service hosted by the Northern Baptist Church.

The second day of the softball tournament begins at 10 a.m. and concessions also open at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m. a parade will be held on Main Street (Hwy 64) as well as SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church Chicken Dinner and Ice Cream by Zion Lutheran Church.

A Ticket Raffle drawing will be held after the championship softball game on Sunday.
