R eports Two vehicle crashes
At 2:28 p.m. on March 16, Erica Schley, 42, of Tony was going northbound STH 13. Kathleen Velasquez-Viets, 57, of Colby was traveling behind Schley’s vehicle. Velasquez-Viets stated that she was watching an uninvolved vehicle behind her following closely. During this time, the front of Velasquez-Viets vehicle struck the rear of Schley’s vehicle. Schley’s vehicle suffered minor damage to the rear while Velasquez-Viets’ vehicle also suffered minor damages to its front.
At 3:20 p.m. on March 16, in the County Market parking lot Larry Drager, 73, of Lublin was legally parked and unoccupied in the parking lot. Harlowe Schwartz, 87, of Medford was parked next to Drager. Schwartz tried to back out of the space and maneuvering to go straight. While doing so the left front corner of Schwartz’s vehicle struck the left rear corner and primarily the trailer hitch of Drager’s vehicle At 10:40 a.m. on March 12, a vehicle driven by Scott Knoff, 58, of Medford, was southbound on Castle Road in the town of Medford and a vehicle driven by Timothy Netzer, 56, of Medford was eastbound on Cedar St. As Knoff entered the intersection, Netzer slid through the stop sign and the two vehicles collided. The Netzer vehicle was spun out and came to rest in the southbound lane of traffic and the Knoff vehicle was facing southeast in the east ditch Both units sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Netzer was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.
At 5:11 p.m. on March 18, a vehicle driven by John Fronk, 54, of Medford was traveling through the intersection of Broadway Ave. and 8th St. in the city of Medford. A vehicle driven by Amelia ODonnell, 23, of Medford, turned in front of the Fronk vehicle attempting to go north on 8th St. ODonnell’s vehicle struck the Fronk vehicle causing damage to both front ends of the vehicle. The Fronk vehicle was reported to have a green light while the ODonnell vehicle failed to yield the right of way. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
Single vehicle crashes
At 12:30 p.m. on March 3, Jamien Bailey, 17, of Medford was traveling southbound on Settlement Drive in the town of Chelsea when he hit a patch of slush. The vehicle lost control and entered the east ditch overturning one time and landing on its wheels facing northbound. Vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
A 7 a.m. on March 10, Adam Zuleger, 36, of Medford, was eastbound on CTH A in the town of Deer Creek. He got too close to the right shoulder of the roadway and got pulled in by the snow entering the south ditch and striking an address sign.
At 2 a.m., on March 11, Nathan Orheim, 18, of Glen Flora, was traveling west on CTH D in the town of Jump River, when he lost control. The vehicle crossed the center line and did a 180 degree turn before entering the south ditch where it overturned and came to rest on its roof facing east. Orheim received citations for operating while suspended and failure of operator to notify police of accident.
At 9 a.m. on March 12, Kimberly Anderson, 38, of Rib Lake, was southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea and lost traction due to the snow and ice on the roadway. The vehicle slid into the west ditch and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side in the west ditch, facing northeast. Passerbys broke out the back window to extract the driver from the vehicle. The driver was uninjured and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for operating vehicle without proof of insurance.
At 4:59 p.m. on March 17, a vehicle driven by Ricky Sapinski, 68, of Medford, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black when it lost control on the ice covered road and entered the ditch and struck a mailbox.
At 11:20 a.m., on March 18, a vehicle driven by Mitchell Hemann, 26, of Granton, was northbound on Hwy 73 in the town of Ford and slid, entering the east ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its roof.
At 10:11 a.m. on March 18, a vehicle driven by Jeremy Hack, 29, of Rib Lake, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in town of Chelsea. The driver lost control on the ice covered road. The vehicle fishtailed, entered the ditch and rolled over coming to rest on its wheels facing northeasterly. Hack received citations for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating a motor vehicle by permittee without another person in the vehicle.
At 9:45 a.m., on March 18, a vehicle driven by Carrie Shipley, 45, of Phillips, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea, and hit an icy patch and started fishtailing. The driver recovered but then tapped the brakes and lost control again, did a 360, and entered the east ditch coming to rest facing southeasterly in a deep snow drift.
At 8:10 a.m. on March 18, a vehicle driven by Mikayla Przekurat, 22, of Medford, was southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford and while negotiating the curve lost control on an ice patch. The vehicle entered the west ditch striking hard packed snow bank causing minor damage to the front driver’s side bumper.
At 9:55p.m., on March 17, Miguel Medina-Rodriguez, 42, Colby, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Deer Creek when he began to lose control on the icy roads and attempted to correct but over corrected and drove into the ditch. While entering the ditch the vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side where it came to rest. The driver was transported from the scene by ambulance and taken to Aspirus Medford Hospital. He received a citation for operating while suspended.
At 11:57 p.m. on March 16, a vehicle driven by Sheldon Rabehl, 44, of Westboro, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Westboro when it lost control. The vehicle ran off the road, did a 180 degree turn, and then entered the east ditch where it came to rest on the driver’s side facing south. He received a citation for failure of operator to notify police of accident.
At 3:44 p.m., on March 13, a vehicle driven by John Weiss, 67, of Athens, was traveling northbound on CTH C at Trout Ave. in the town of Greenwood, when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road conditions. The vehicle crossed over the southbound lane and entered the west ditch coming to rest upright facing south.
Deer related
At 9:16 a.m. on March 11 a vehicle driven by Khristina Jerome, 43, of Sparta, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 just west of CTH T in the town of Maplehurst, swerved to miss a deer and went into the south side ditch and came to rest facing east.
Amended report
At 7:06 p.m., on February 20, a vehicle driven by Adian Mambo, 20, of River Falls, was traveling east on CTH M when the car shut off. The vehicle was coasting trying to get off the roadway and enter a driveway up the road. A vehicle driven by Aaron Julian, 22, of Medford, was also traveling east on CTH M and did not see the Mambo vehicle until it was too late. The Julian vehicle struck the rear of the Mambo vehicle sending it down the road further coming to rest at the south shoulder of CTH M. Both units were drug into a private driveway and the owner stated they can remove them at their convenience.
