Cadott Lions hit the ground running to begin new year
The Cadott Lions Club kept December activities low key, so members could keep up with their other busy activities.
“At our monthly meeting, we put together gift bags with some treats and fruit we purchased from the Cadott FFA,” said Lion Caroline Wanish.
When the meeting was over, many members spent some time delivering and visiting with seniors who live in the community. A couple Lions members also did some Christmas shopping for several families the club adopted.
Once deer season was deemed officially done, the freezer by the Lions pavilion (containing 375 hides) was delivered to Jim Falls.
When the new year hit, January saw the club get a little busier, with planning for coming activities and fundraisers. First on the calendar, was the club’s Christmas party held at the Goetz Town Hall.
“We had a Chinese auction and the money raised was donated to the veterans at Cline Hall,” said Wanish.
Next on the list, was to finish planning the annual ice fishing contest, held on Pike lake.
“On our wish list for this, is warm weather, good and safe ice, and that those attending, big and small, have a great day of catching fish,” said Wanish.
On an icy Sunday afternoon, many brave seniors attended the club’s monthly BINGO, held at the Goetz Town Hall, where coffee and treats were served, and everyone went home with a prize.
The Lions are always on the lookout for service projects and one ongoing, is the original mission of the club – to give sight to those in need. However, they can’t do it alone and ask for help from the community.
There is a yellow collection box at DJ’s, by the restaurant entrance, where the public can drop off eye glasses, hearing aids and cell phones.
“If you have any of these items collecting dust in your home, the Lions club would be more than happy to take them,” said Wanish.
