Area businesses invited to learn about broadband options

Taylor County middle mile network project ready to start connecting to customers; business needs a priority

Taylor County is getting ready to move onto the next phase of an aggressive broadband infrastructure project.

“We are pleased to announce that our Middle Mile Network is nearing completion. You may have noticed the crews are back to work in Taylor County, putting the fiber in the conduit and are planning to be finished by June 30,” said Mike Bub, chairman of the county’s broadband committee. Bub has been a driving force behind the project to install the fiber cable needed for a Middle Mile Network that will allow access through the county for service providers to connect rural and urban homes and businesses with high speed internet service.

With the first step nearing completion, Bub said they are looking ahead to the next phase of connecting business customers, with special emphasis on those who are near the fiber optic lines.

On June 15th and 16th, the county’s broadband partner WanRack, will be on site at the Taylor County Education Building at 624 E. College Street in Medford, to meet with business representatives regarding future internet service.

There will be group sessions on June 15 at 8:30 a.m.,11:30 a.m.,1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Businesses are encouraged to call the county clerk’s office at 715-748-1460, to reserve a spot at one of these sessions.

“We invite you to learn what WanRack has to offer your business,” Bub said, noting the internet needs of businesses can vary greatly depending on the size and needs of a particular business.
