Health director announces retirement plans

Patty Krug, Director of the Taylor County Health Department, has announced her retirement to the Personnel Committee. Krug’s last day will be February 1, 2022. Two applicants are interested in this position. Experience of at least 6 to 9 years, is necessary for this position. This stipulation was discussed, but not revised due to state statutory requirements. A motion was approved to further review and revise the Public Health Director job description.
Nathanael Brown’s last day of his position as Commission on Aging Director was December 3.
In other business: Call-in pay for Human Services Department has been updated to include 2 hours worked plus any call-in time if needed.
Brown, asked to update the Nutrition and Aging Director job description with a 40 lbs weight limit.
Jail Health Registered Nurse at the Sheriff’s Department job description was updated. The position is a part-time position of 28 hours.
The county is going to start providing new employees of the courthouse with their insurance the first day of the month after they have been hired on. For example if the employee is hired on December 15, they will be able to use their benefits by January 1. It has been said that the 90-day waiting period is inconvenient for some employees. This change will be put into effect the first of the year.
The Delta Dental insurance agency is changing the insurance premium by 3.5% for employees. Overall the 2022 single monthly premium rate increased by 32 cents and the family premium rate increased by $1.32 with Taylor County paying 80% of the cost and employees contributing 20% of the cost. The total increased cost to the county is approximately $1,500 a year.
The committee approved a new plan for the Flexible Spending Account for 2022. The increased amount went from $2,000 a year, to $2,400 per year. Employees are eligible to defer up to $2,400 before taxes into a flexible spending account to cover medical, dental, therapy, prescription drug, expenses during the year.
