The report went on to state Smart informed the towing company via telephone that he had lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the gravel, that he had not reported the accident and that he was home and sore. The report stated attempts to contact Smart were unsuccessful. Speeding too fast for conditions and running off the roadway by Smart were listed in the report as factors in the accident. He was issued citations for failure of occupant to notify police of an accident, failure to keep vehicle under control, and unreasonable and imprudent speed.
Trevor W. Zawacki, 16, Gilman, was involved in an accident on May 18 at 7:50 a.m. on Hwy 73 in the town of Aurora. According to the accident report, the Zawacki vehicle was southbound on Hwy 73 when the vehicle drove onto the west shoulder of the roadway. The driver over-corrected and lost control. The vehicle slid sideways into the east ditch and came to a stop on the driver’s side. There was damage to the entire left side of the vehicle. Looking away from the task by Zawacki was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.
Sebastian M. Mabie, 22, Medford, was involved in an accident on May 19 at 4:02 p.m. on Centennial Parkway in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Mabie vehicle was northbound on Centennial Parkway when the driver failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic sign indicating the left curve in the roadway. Mabie stated he was tired and had just finished a long work shift. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the right front corner and right side front. Looking away from task and operating a motor vehicle in an inattentive, careless or erratic manner by Mabie were listed in the report as factors in the accident.
Mark K. Gallistel, 68, Ogema, was involved in an accident on May 20 at 5:35 a.m. on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford. According to the accident report, the Gallistel vehicle was southbound on Hwy 13 south of the intersection with Hites Lane when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by the Gallistel vehicle. The deer was thrown across the highway by the impact of the collision and passed through the posts of the highway sign for Hites Lane, knocking the sign down.The Gallistel vehicle sustained damage to the front, left front corner, left side front and right front corner.
