10 Years Ago – 2010

Larry Krouse, Cadott High School graduate and resident of Dallas, Texas, has a reminder of home, as Texas is hit with more than a foot of snow. Taking advantage of the rare happening, Krouse builds an 8-foot snowman in his yard and sends a photo back home.

20 Years Ago – 2000

Kelly Falkenberg opens Northern Paws Pet Lodge, a 5,000-square foot luxury pet boarding facility, halfway between Cadott and Cornell. The spa-like business features pampering for the four-legged “babies,” with climate control, heated floors, special lighting, music, TV and snacks.

30 Years Ago – 1990 The Little Drywood Centennial Committee meets at the home of Louis and La-Verne LaNou, looking over old class photos. The committee promises more information and stories will come about the centennial.

40 Years Ago – 1980

Cornell Corporation president Neil Goodall says damages from a blaze that was battled at the company for 10 hours, are estimated at $1 million. The fire happened in the building that houses the roof deck production and is believed to have been caused by sparks from a torch cutter.

50 Years Ago – 1970

Some Cadott people will be effected by new postal changes, if they are living more than a quarter, but less than half a mile, from the village limits. Those patrons were not eligible for delivery in the past and had to pick up their mail at the post office, but no more, as three new routes will be added for delivery.

60 Years Ago – 1960

The Cornell City Council approves the purchase of land owned by Wes Schmidt on South Street, which is needed for an Urban Renewal Project.

100 Years Ago – 1920

With the meat price strike, L. Williamson Meat Market will continue to offer regular prices, such as 50 pound tins of lard for 26 per pound and roasts for 12 1/2 cents each pound.
