3-D shoot Local archers claimed most of the top awards in the 3-D shoot, which featured 65 boys and 52 girls.
Gilman’s Hunter Oberle was the top female overall with a score of 280, which also gave her the high school championship, while Pirate junior Kylee Burton was second with a 277.
Pirate Wayne McAlpine was second in the boys high school standings with a 276, while Casey Grunseth (268) was fourth. Gilman’s Kennedy Buske (229) and Reece Weir (211) were second and third in the girls elementary division and Andy Copenhaver (222) was fourth among boys.
Medford’s Jenna Wickersheim (277), Jada Surek (271), Kyanna Mallien (269) and Mattie Gebert (269) took the top four spots among midde school girls. Kirsten Weix (273) was fourth in the high school girls division.
Forest Hartl (279), Wyatt Meyer (245) and Logan Langdon (227) swept the top three elementary boys places. Bristal Kraemer won the girls title with a 245.
Gilman won the high school (1,640) and elementary (1,201) team championships, while Medford (1,626) took the middle school crown over the second-place Pirates (1,515).

The Gilman Pirate Archery Club hosted its annual National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) archery tournament on Saturday, Feb. 8 with more than 20 school districts represented. A total of 408 archers, including 38 from Gilman, 87 from Medford and seven from Rib Lake, competed for the perfect score of 300 in the bullseye shoot and 3-D shoots.
Cadott senior Kaden Christianson repeated as boys and individual champion in the bullseye competition by shooting a 296. He hit the 10-point circle on the target 14 of 15 times from 10 meters and 12 of 15 times from 15 meters. The female overall champion was Cadott freshman LaRhea Christenson, who registered a score of 288 in her 30 shots.
Medford seventh grader Tana Rappe and eighth grader Hailey Reilly tied for the top spot among middle school girls (grades 6-8) with scores of 280. Rappe won the tiebreaker based on having one more 10-point shot, 16-15. Coy Loucks, an eighth grader, took third in the middle school boys competition with 276 points.
Medford school district students also had a big day in the elementary division (grades 4-5). Fifth grader Forest Hartl (272), fifth grader Brody Peche (248) and fourth grader Brock Anderson (248) were the top three finishers in among 46 boys.
Fifth grader Bristal Kraemer of Medford took the elementary girls championship with a 263, while fifth grader Kella Gebert was second with a 251 and Gilman fourth grader Reece Weir was fourth with her 236.
Freshman Wayne McAlpine was Gilman’s top scorer with a 283, good for fifth in the high school boys competition. Medford freshman Landen Viergutz shot a 282 to place seventh among high school boys and freshman Kirsten Weix earned a 281 to place fifth among high school girls. Sixth grader Jaxson Franz led Rib Lake with a 248, putting him 37th among middle school boys.
Medford won the middle school team championship with 3,201 points, easily beating Cadott by 182 points. Medford II was fifth with 2,917 and Gilman placed sixth out of eight teams with 2,743 points. Medford was the sole elementary team and scored 2,841 points. The host Pirates placed second in high school competition with 3,255 points, trailing Cadott (3,300). Medford was fourth out of five teams with 3,171 points.
