Cadott alumni Bethany Rykal opens Just Relax Massage Therapy in the Kromrey Chiropractic offi ce. Rykal has been a licensed practitioner for five years, after graduating from the Professional Hair Design Academy in Eau Claire.
20 Years Ago –1999
Jessica and Carl Waite open an antique mall called Rustic Elegance, in the former Prentice Brothers Hardware Store location on Cornell’s Main Street. Jessica specializes in vintage clothing, using her extensive collection for fashion shows.
30 Years Ago – 1989
Cadott Elementary School principal A. Pat Mrotek is inducted into the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame. During his time as a coach at Cadott, Mrotek’s record was 95-15, while he had success with many individual and team conference, Regional and Sectional champions, as well as State competitors.
40 Years Ago – 1979
Rumors that the Flintkote Company in Cornell, may have been sold, are partially confirmed by plant manager Tom McChesney, who calls the matter an “iffy” situation. The felt roofing plant is valued at $392 million in stocks.
50 Years Ago – 1969
Cadott residents Mr. and Mrs. Earl Liddell, travel to South America, with 40 other Wisconsinites, led by Gov. Warren P. Knowles. The 25-day paid trip is part of the Wisconsin Trade Development Mission, with Wisconsin’s sister state of Nicaragua, the first stop.
60 Years Ago – 1959
Frank Weisheipl and his wife hold an open house, for a tour of their modern six-unit Edgewater Motel, just southwest of Cornell on State Hwy. 178. The furnishings of the unit are not only modern and visually appealing, but functional.
100 Years Ago – 1919
The Camp Fire Girls host a game supper for the public at the JuVette residence. Funds from the night will be used to obtain a building for headquarters of the group, as well as purchasing furniture for the new abode.
