Those who suffered suicide loss invited to take part on Memory Quilt project
The Taylor County Mental Health Council is inviting friends and families who have lost a loved one to suicide or other mental health disorder in the past to participate in making a Suicide Awareness - Memory Quilt.
The quilts will be displayed as part of the “In Loving Memory Display” at the Walk Together for Suicide Awareness scheduled to take place at 5:30 pm on September 14 at the Medford City Park.
Mental Health Council members are asking for individuals assistance to help us gather some t-shirts or even a photo of loved ones lost to suicide or other mental health disorder. The t-shirts could be from their favorite activity, brand, logo, etc. or a photo of them doing their favorite activities, kayaking, horseback riding, racing cars, etc. They goal would be for the Mental Health Council to keep and display this quilt in memory of loved ones every September during the Suicide Awareness Night.
If you would like to memorialize your family member or friend drop off the tshirt or photo at the Medford Area School District Office. Photos will be returned (put your name and return address on the back of the photo) but t-shirts will be used in the quilt.
When dropping off your items please include a note with the shirt or photo 1. Include the NAME of the person(s) to be remembered 2. Their date of birth and date of death. 3. A short statement or quote that you would like to have added on the quilt block if there is room.
All photos and t-shirts must be dropped off no later than June 9. If you have any questions regarding this project contact, OraLee Dittrich at (715)-9654998 or email: dittror@medford.k12.wi.us
