Loyal, Greenwood school districts release referendum info

There will be an advisory referendum question on the April 1 ballot asking residents of the Loyal and Greenwood school districts if they support the consolidation of the two districts. The referendum is not binding, but will inform the school boards and administrators if this is something the community is interested in pursuing further.

The administrators of both districts want to make sure voters have enough information on the issue to make an informed decision. To that end, they have compiled several resources on each school district's website, including a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ), a referendum fact sheet, and a portal for people to submit their own questions related to consolidation.

These resources can be found by going to loyal.kl2. wi.us or greenwood.kl2.wi.us and clicking on the banner on the homepage. The fact sheet has bullet point-style information and includes a tentative timeline for consolidation. The FAQ page has 18 questions and answers related to consolidation, including topics such as enrollment

projections, staffing numbers, and potential mill rate impact. More questions and answers will be added as people submit them. There is also a Google Form for people to submit their own questions, and the districts will do their best to answer the question within two days and post the response to the FAQ page. People can submit questions anonymously if they choose.

District residents are also encouraged to contact Loyal District Administrator Chris Lindner at chrislinder@loyal.k12.wi.us or 715-255-8552, or Greenwood District Administrator Joe Green at jogreen@greenwood.k12.wi.us or 715-267-6101 for any further information or clarification.
