1 injured in school bus accident

One person is injured after a school bus accident at the intersection of Fernwall Avenue and Cloverdale Road in the town of Worden, which is about 9 miles south and east of Stanley.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of the crash at about 4:09 p.m., on Monday Feb. 10. Initial investigation indicates that a school bus was traveling west on Cloverdale Road and entered the intersection at Fernwall Avenue. As the bus entered the intersection, it struck a Jeep on its driver’s side as it was traveling south on Fernwall Avenue.

The bus continued west and stopped on Cloverdale Road. The Jeep came to rest in the southwest ditch at the intersection.

The bus had eight students inside it with one adult driver. No one on the bus was injured.

The Jeep had one passenger that sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire. The students were taken home by another school bus that arrived at the scene.

The Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation of the crash is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

“The names of the drivers and students riding the bus are not being released at this time,” Chief Deputy James Hirsch of the sheriff’s office wrote in a Feb. 10 press release.

The school bus driver failed to yield at the yield sign at the intersection.
