Loyal to have new waste disposal service in 2025
By Cheyenne Thomas Next week, residents in the city of Loyal will be receiving new trash and recycling bins that will be used for pick-up of garbage starting in 2025. The city of Loyal is switching companies for handling garbage disposal in the coming year from Waste Management of Marshfield to Green for Life Environmental Inc., a Canadian-based company with locations throughout Wisconsin.
Residents in the city of Loyal received letters in the mail informing them of the upcoming change of service. During the week of Dec. 16-20, new 95-gallon trash and 95-gallon recycling carts will be delivered. Residents should take note of the way the carts are delivered, as they will be delivered in the same way they will have to be placed for service. The carts will have to be placed 4 feet apart with the handlebars facing the curb in order for the garbage contained inside them to be picked up.
The first pickup using the new garbage carts will be Jan. 2. Trash is picked up using an arm on the garbage truck, so there is no need for the truck operator to get out and manually unload the carts. Trash will be picked up weekly on Wednesdays while recycling will be picked up every other week. Yard waste pick-up will be on the first Tuesday of every month, beginning on Jan. 7. In the months of March thru October, yard waste will be picked up twice per month.
Residents should have received a schedule of garbage and yard waste pick-up dates for the upcoming year. On the calendar, it is noted that recycling will be picked up for residents living north of Central Street every other week beginning on Jan. 2, while residents living south of Central Street will have their recycling picked up every other week beginning on Jan. 8. There will be no need to separate recyclables in the new carts. On holidays such as New Year’s, Memorial Day and

Labor Day, the garbage pick-up dates will be pushed back one day to be picked up on Thursdays of those weeks. Residents should see the mailed schedule for a complete list of dates.
Green Life Environmental asks for carts to be placed at the curb by 5 a.m. on Wednesday mornings or the night before garbage pickup to ensure uninterrupted service. The service will be billed through the city, but bulk pick-up of items can be scheduled for a $75 fee by calling 715-669-3868. Green Life Environmental will not pick up appliances or construction debris.
If there are any questions about the new service, residents are encouraged to call Green Life Environmental at 715-669-3868 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Monday through Friday.
