Sex offender sentenced to probation

Jeffery Seubert, 67, formerly of Marathon, pled guilty last Wednesday in Marathon County Circuit Court to a felony charge of child enticement, but he will avoid going to prison if he successfully completes seven years of probation in Louisiana where he currently lives. Two felony charges of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and possession of less than three grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver were read into the court minutes during Seubert’s plea/sentencing hearing. The conditions of Seubert’s probation include that he receive any assessment, treatment and counseling deemed appropriate by the agent; an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) assessment and any recommended follow up; sex offender treatment recommended by the agent; Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry for 15 years; no unsupervised contact with persons under the age of 18 unless approved by the agent; no internet activity except as allowed by the agent, absolute sobriety and no possession of controlled substances unless

they are valid prescriptions taken as prescribed.
The criminal complaint states that on May 13, 2023, while Seubert was living in the town of Marathon, he used a computer to communicate with an individual whom he had reason to believe was under the age of 16 with the intent to have sexual contact or sexual intercourse with. He was actually messaging with an undercover Wausau Police Department officer searching for child sex predators online.
Seubert went into a city of Wausau building with the intent to deliver a controlled substance to someone he thought was a minor but was actually the police officer. Seubert possessed three grams or less of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver it to the minor when the Wausau Police Department officer arrested him.
