One killed in town of Spencer crash, name released

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality at approximately 7:51 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, near the intersection of State Highway 13 and Merkel Road in the town of Spencer.

Anthony A. Peplinski, 27, of Spencer was killed in the crash. Peplinski was a 2015 graduate of Loyal High School. No other injuries were reported.

The Marathon County Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident. As of 12:15 p.m. Monday, State Highway 13 remained closed between 26th Road and County Highway F. Traffic was detoured to alternate routes.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Spencer Police Department, Spencer Fire/EMS, Marshfield Fire/EMS, Marshfield Police Department, and Marathon County Medical Examiner's Office were among the agencies assisting with the incident.

In a press release from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, it was stated that further updates would be provided via the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
