Bruce and Vera Jensen celebrate 65 years of marriage


On August 21, 1957, on a beautiful summer day in Curtiss, Bruce Dale Jensen married Vera Marie Neitzel at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. A reception and dinner for family and friends followed at the home of Ernest and Adeline Neitzel, living at N16655 County Road E in Curtiss.
Everyone gathered for the dance at the Memorial Hall in Dorchester in the evening. The wedding party consisted of maid of honor Lorraine Neitzel, Curtiss; best man brother Gene Jensen, Dorchester; Thelma and Karl Bucholz of Curtiss; Beaulah and Melvin Fischer, Dorchester; miniature bride and groom Deborah Bucholz and David Fischer.
On August 21, 2022 the family of Bruce and Vera Jensen gathered to celebrate their 65th Anniversary at the home of Dane and Lorean Jensen in Dorchester.
From 1958-2007 Bruce and Vera worked together on an 80 acre farm (now owned by their son and daughterin- law, Dane and Lorean Jensen) located 4 miles west of Dorchester. Bruce and Vera lived on this farm for 49 years. They had four children; Marie, Dale, Mark, and Dane.
Throughout their years together Bruce and Vera enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, all provinces of Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Mexico, Bahamas, and Jamaica. Their truck/camper was affectionately referred to as “The Travelers”.
Bruce served in the Army from 1950-1952, and was in Active Reserve for 5 years. Bruce also worked at Packaging Corporation in Colby for 22 years. Vera was a school bus driver for Dorchester schools for 33 years.
They were both active members of the VFW in Colby. Bruce served a term as commander and Vera held several offices at the VFW also.
Vera spends much of her time making quilts and handmade items for members of their family. Bruce loved hunting in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Wisconsin. They have always loved playing cards and monopoly with children and grandchildren.
Children in attendance included: Marie Jensen-Thomas and Steve Thomas of Elk Mound, Mark and Tammy Jensen of Medford, and Dane and Lorean Jensen of Dorchester.
Grandchildren in attendance included: Joey and Haley Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.; Jessica (Jensen) and Casey Nernburger of Medford; Kimberly (Jensen) and Kole Hartwig of Medford; Ashley (Jensen) and Adam Landwehr of Stratford; Alyssa (Jensen) and Josh Soyk of Abbotsford; and Ernie Jensen and Kora Serrano of Curtiss.
Grandchildren not in attendance were: Sam Thomas of St Paul, Minn.; Amber (Jensen) and Seyha Kry of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Troy Jensen of Curtiss.
Great-grandchildren in attendance: Ezren Thomas; Brooklyn and Lillian Nernberger; Malcom Hartwig; Oliver, Riley, and Colten Landwehr; Anna and Nolan Soyk.
Great-grandchildren not in attendance: Breanna and Analise Jensen; Kennedy Capodanna, Petra and Jackson Kry.

Vera and Bruce Jensen were married on Aug. 21, 1957.

Bruce and Vera Jensen were joined by many of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for a 65th wedding anniversary celebration on Aug. 21 at the Dane and Lorean Jensen farm in Dorchester. This is the farm where the couple lived and worked for 49 years.submitted
