Even after a proposed 27 percent water rate increase goes into effect, Medford utility customers will be paying the lowest water rates in a 40-mile radius. That was the message from Dave Maccoux of Schenck SC to members of the Medford city council during the committee of the whole meeting held Monday evening. The city has made a number of water system improvements over the past several years including repainting the industrial park water tower and major infrastructure improvements with the Hwy 13 project last summer. A water rate increase is being considered to pay for those expenses as well as keeping the system operating in a financially sound manner.
