With a paper ballot vote, Medford Area School District residents approved gifting a 2-3 acre parcel of land to Northcentral Technical College by a 64-26 margin. Monday night’s annual school district meeting drew about 100 people to the Red/White theater at Medford Area Senior High. Residents on both sides of the issue voiced their opinions before the vote. Mauer pointed out the land is the only undeveloped property on the school campus and there may be other needs for the district. She showed concerns of having a developer build on the land and asked what would happen if NTC leaves.

Following a number of meetings to study the feasibility of merging the Taylor and Clark Electric Cooperatives, the boards of directors have voted to discontinue merger actions. According to Taylor Electric manager, Mike Schaefer, there are many positive aspects of a merger, including improved service in territories served, and sharing employees and equipment and purchasing powers.

The Rib Lake Fish and Game continue to be the only sportsmen’s club in Wisconsin with a muskie rearing project. President Ed Martin reported this week that the “school” of muskies had outstanding survival again. The association completed its annual game fish rearing project October 19, when 955 10 to 22 inch muskies were removed from the Tannery pond in the village. The club had planted 1500 fingerlings during the first week of June, with 75% survival. It marked the 23rd year the club has raised muskies.

Representatives of eight of the ten teams in Wisconsin Valley Baseball League met at Medford last night and elected Earl Kidd, Owen baseball head, as president of the league for the coming year. He replaces Ray Walters, Medford ball manager, who expects to move to Colorado soon. The league men also named Roy Larson, Tomahawk, vice president, and Ray Sorenson, Rhinelander, secretary.

October 20, 1921
Herman Froman did some difficult plowing on Oscar Olson’s place on section 1, Town of Holway, last week, using a tractor and a 20 inch jumbo plow for same. It was 10 inches deep to cover the heavy growth of willows and brush which covered the ground. Con Olson states that the plowing would have been impossible for horses. He should know whereof he speaks as he has been through the experience of turning over 70 acres.

The annual reunion of the surviving members of Co. D, Twenty-first Wisconsin volunteers and Co. I Thirty-second Wisconsin volunteers, will be held tomorrow at the home of Dr. Byron Douglas and will be largely attended. Most of the day will be spent at the doctor’s home but an elaborate dinner will be spread in the Odd Fellow’s hall.
