Aspirus Medford Clinic welcomes Dr. Valentijn in pediatrics
Lynnette Valentijn, MD, is now caring for children of all ages at Aspirus Medford Clinic. A board-certified pediatric provider since 1988, she has over 30 years of experience in pediatrics. “As a general pediatrician, I enjoy caring for patients of all ages,” she said. “I find myself drawn to children with special needs or syndromes.”
Dr. Valentijn earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and her medical degree from the University of Toledo Health Services and Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. Her pediatrics residency was completed at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. As a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she continues to educate herself as the world of pediatrics continues to evolve. Dr. Valentijn also has experience teaching medical students from her role as assistant professor at the University of Indiana.
Dr. Valentijn lives in Wausau with her husband and is looking forward to working in a small town again. “I had forgotten how truly friendly Wisconsinites were and central Wisconsin feels like home,” she said. “I was truly pleased to receive the offer from Aspirus Medford Clinic.” Dr. Valentijn and her husband are the proud parents of three children. Their oldest son is a pediatrician in Detroit, one daughter works in cybersecurity at the University of Miami and their other daughter is a veterinarian student at Purdue. Apart from work, Dr. Valentijn enjoys reading, gardening and hiking with her three English Sheepdogs. She describes herself as an animal lover with the philosophy of always accepting and listening to others’ opinions.
