n January 9 - An officer was on patrol in Abbotsford when he observed a vehicle with a defective brake light and the right corner of the license plate was bent over, obscuring the first letter of the registration. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver.

As the officer was speaking with the driver, he could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer asked the driver if there was marijuana in the vehicle and the man said, “A little.” He also said the marijuana was his and did not belong to the passenger of the vehicle.

The officer ran both the driver and passenger’s information through dispatch. Neither individual came back as having a valid driver’s license.

The officer asked the man to exit the vehicle and the man told him the marijuana was in his coat pocket. The officer located a small, partially smoked blunt and the man said that is all he had.

The officer then searched the vehcile and located no other items of contraband. The officer issued the driver a citation for operate without a valid driver’s license and took the marijuana to the police department to be tested for marijuana. The test came back positive and the man was mailed a citation for possession of marijuana.

n January 9 - An officer met with a woman at the police department. She told the officer she had moved in April of 2022 and during the move, she had lost her passport. The woman said she went to get a new passport and was told she needed to file a police report stating she had lost her passport. The officer completed a report and filed it at the department.

n January 13 - An officer was on patrol in Abbotsford when he observed a vehicle with an air freshener hanging from its rear view mirror obstructing the driver’s view. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver.

The woman driver said the vehicle was not hers and she did not know if she had insurance on the vehicle when the officer asked. The officer informed the woman to contact the owner of the vehicle and see if there is insurance on the vehicle. During that time, another officer with K9 Dodge arrived on-scene and deployed to the vehicle. K9 Dodge alerted to the vehicle and the officer asked the woman to step out of the vehicle and conducted a search of her person. The officer located a clear and black bag with a white, crystallized substance inside of it.

The officers then searched the vehicle and found a purple bag under the front passenger seat cover. Inside of the bag was a piece of paper towel with something hard inside. Inside of the paper toweling was a clear, glass pipe with a white, crystallized substance inside. The officer also found an orange straw with a white, crystallized substance inside, two white cotton swabs and a purple lighter in the purple bag.

The officer asked the woman what the crystallized substance was inside of the items. The woman said that before the officer stopped her, she had been in a parking lot in Abbotsford with her boyfriend. She said he was using methamphetamine next to her while being parked in her vehicle in the parking lot.

The woman stated once her boyfriend used his amount, he wanted to use, he told the woman to hold onto the clear and black bag and bring it to his apartment in the city of Abbotsford.

The woman then said her boyfriend either rides with her to Wausau to get his meth or drives himself. The officer asked the woman why she would hold onto the man’s meth if she was not going to use any of it. The woman said she does whatever her boyfriend tells her to do. The officer informed the woman he did not believe she did not use meth and did not believe she was just holding onto a bag of meth without using it.

The officer informed the woman she would be placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The officer placed the woman under arrest and transported the woman to the Clark County Jail.

The officer then weighed and tested all the substances and items which all came back positive for methamphetamine.

n January 15 - An officer ran a vehicle’s registration information through the Department of Justice system while on patrol and it came back with a suspended tag due to unpaid parking tickets. The officer conducted a traffic stop and met with the driver. The officer asked the driver if he had a driver’s license and he stated he did not but handed the officer an identification card.

The name was ran through dispatch who confirmed that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Another officer arrived with K9 Dodge who was deployed to the vehicle. K9 Dodge alerted to the vehicle and the officer had the man step out of the vehicle. The officer searched the man and found no items of interest on his person. The officer then had the passengers step out of the vehicle and nothing was found on their persons.

The officers searched the vehicle and located in the center console of the vehicle, a rolled up one-dollar bill with a green, leafy substance inside of it. In the back of the front passenger seat storage pocket, the officers found a multicolored glass pipe with a green, leafy substance inside.

The officer asked the three individuals if the green, leafy substance belonged to them. All three denied the one-dollar bill and glass pipe belonged to them. The officer informed the individuals that if any of the items tested positive for marijuana, they would all be getting citations for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The officer also informed the driver he would be getting a citation in the mail for operating without a valid license (first offense).

The officer transported the items back to the police department where they tested positive for marijuana. The individuals were all mailed their citations.
