Rebecca “Becky” Mae (Smith) Gohde


Rebecca “Becky” Mae (Smith) Gohde, 65, Holcombe, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, with her loving husband and family by her side.
Becky was born Dec. 15, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa, to William and Winona (Juvette)
Smith. She graduated from Lake Holcombe High School in 1978.
Throughout her life, Becky was a dedicated nurse. She received her initial nursing education through Chippewa Valley Technical College and later completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
She recently retired from her nursing career, after 40 years of service. Over the years, she cared for countless patients and their families. Many who worked with Becky, describe her as having a joyous and helpful attitude, as well as a commitment to high-quality and compassionate care.
Becky married Dean Cynor and helped raise her two stepsons, Jon and Travis Cynor. They divorced in 2002.
She later met and quickly fell in love with David Gohde, whom she married, June 7, 2003. They enjoyed sightsee-
ing, fishing, bird watching, and spending time with family and friends.
Becky was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and great-aunt.
She is survived by her husband – David Gohde; mother – Winona Turner; stepchildren – Jon (Becca) Cynor, Travis (Brittany) Cynor, Katie (Dan Miller) Gohde and Jon (Lyz Pin) Gohde; 11 grandchildren; sister – Ramona (John) Hughes; uncle – Eugene Juvette; nieces and nephews – Marc (Molly) Hughes, Elizabeth (Jake) Davis, Bethany Cecot, Rebecca (Michael) Barnhardt, Jacob (Suzanne) Velie and Joshua (Leah) Velie; 13 great-nieces and nephews; stepsiblings from the Tucker and Turner families; and was also appreciative of the many years of friendship with the families of Dale Weiss and Bill Turner.
She was preceded in death by her son – Nathan Cynor; sister – Wendy Velie; father – William Smith; stepfathers – Dale Weiss and Bill Turner; uncles – Lloyd and Franklin Juvette; aunt – Trish (Eugene) Juvette; and maternal grandparents – Ethel and Charles Juvette.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lake Holcombe Town Hall, Saturday, April 19. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., with a service at noon. Burial will follow at the Holcombe Cemetery, then back to the town hall.
