Michael “Rooster” Wayne Reuss, 67, Cornell, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, unexpectedly.

Michael was born Sept. 30, 1957, in Cornell.

He was a very caring man, who was always there to help his family and friends.

Rooster loved gardening, fishing, gun and amp, bow hunting, agate hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, animals, the Packers, going to garage sales, beer, riding horses, cooking and riding his motorcycle. He not only attended Sturgis, for 20 years in a row, but he also helped construct the buildings that are at Sturgis.

He led a simple life, but always worked hard and stayed busy, doing projects around the house and yard.

Rooster was an all-around handyman, who worked in carpentry, construction, HVAC and electrical. He also had his own business, called Rooster’s Coop, where he had many different animals like peacocks, turkeys, guineas, chickens and mini-rex rabbits.

He is survived by his mother – Susan Buster; his four children – Laurie (Justin) Carter Wetter, Stacey (Johnny) Breckenridge, Cassandra (Joe) Reuss and Kayla Wilson; his siblings – Marty Reuss, Mitch (Tony) Reuss, Michele (Jared) Nicolaus, Robert (Katie) Reuss and Tiffany (Charles) Prince; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father – Thomas Reuss; his stepfather – Dave Buster; and baby sister – Lori Reuss.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, from 1-3 p.m., at the Cornell Lake Resort & Campground in Bloomer. A dish to pass would be appreciated.

We will plan a get-together this summer, with family who lives out of town, when they are able to come.
